Michael Perret is from Perth and attained his medical degree at the University of Western Australia, graduating with honours in 2007. After completing the Australian Orthopaedic Association training program in 2017, Michael was admitted as a fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons.
Michael has undertaken further sub-specialty training in upper limb surgery. He gained experience in arthroscopic and reconstructive shoulder surgery in professional athletes including AFL players during a fellowship with A/Prof. Greg Hoy and A/Prof. Eugene Ek at Melbourne Orthopaedic Group, Victoria. He was then accepted as the Hand and Upper Limb Fellow at the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital, where he worked with Dr Chris Blenkin. Here Michael learned advanced techniques in the treatment of hand and upper limb conditions, including microsurgery, wrist and elbow arthroscopy, and joint replacement.
Michael is involved in the training of Orthopaedic registrars through the Australian Orthopaedic Association, and has publications in international journals.
Michael is pleased to join Grant Booth and Sven Goebel at Perth Shoulder Clinic in 2020. He holds public appointments at Royal Perth Hospital and the Hand Surgery Service at Fremantle Hospital. He is available to operate on insured patients (private health, workers compensation, motor vehicle) at Bethesda Hospital, and St John of God Subiaco.
